While President Trump and his Senate enablers have made the wealthy even wealthier, the Democratic House continues to pass bills meant to meet the basic needs of everyday citizens, especially during the pandemic.
The Republicans’ response? Make the term socialism radioactive and call anyone who supports universal health care and fair wages a socialist.
Should Americans die because their employers do not provide health insurance? Shouldn’t all workers earn a living wage?
Democrats are capitalists. Democrats do not want to nationalize industries. Stopping the rich from exploiting the poor is not equivalent to robbing the top 1%.
As President Harry Truman said in 1952, “Socialism is their [the Republicans’] name for almost everything that helps all of the people.”
Republicans spew umbrella terms that they then redefine to suit their own needs. Americans must see through such hateful, harmful rhetoric.
